The themes that inspire local events are many and different, and traditions certainly represent classic moments not to be missed. Castiglioncello hosts Foodies Festival in April and MangiainGiro in May, which is a gastronomic journey covering all the hamlets of the municipal area weekend after weekend, combining the different flavors of the hills with the ones of the sea.
These are the main events: ‘Foodies Festival’ in the hamlet of Castiglioncello, ‘De' Pizza Festival’ in the hamlet of Vada, ‘Cacciucco senza trucco’ in Rosignano Solvay, ‘A Maggio c'è il formaggio’ in the hilly villages of Castelnuovo M.dia, Gabbro, Nibbiaia, and ‘Qui non si frigge mica con l'acqua’ in the main town of Rosignano.
They all have in common the tourist attraction, the promotion of local products through storytelling, show cooking, forums, and popular events recovering the local traditions of the single hamlets. Another element in common is good food, which is synonymous with quality of life in our municipality.
The fish festival of June represents an additional early summer event for all those who love seafood; a large saucepan is prepared in front of the sea to fry fish. Some entertainment events located around complete the gastronomic offer.
During the same month, the Tuscany Summer Rainbow: shows and entertainment events open the summer season.
In August, the historic village of Rosignano Marittimo looks like the fictional place described by the writer Carlo Collodi in Pinocchio; it is an incredible show thanks to the Land of Toys. The magic you can breathe is so nameless that acrobats, jugglers, and street performers captivate and amaze the audience of young and old people. There are also street food and curio markets.
Oil is the star of November, after the harvest and the crashing process of the green gold in mills. ‘Pane olio in frantoio’ and ‘Rassegna VerdeOro’ are initiatives of further enhancement and promotion of this local product.
In December, in the charming hamlet of Rosignano Marittimo, we celebrate the Living Nativity, a reproduction of the Nativity scene. Each year there are many figurants, who are citizens of the town, giving birth to a new Bethlehem, representing ancient customs and old crafts.
